Bryan Wnek

Founder & CEO, The Windmill Weekly

I’m a student at Batavia High School, and I started The Windmill Weekly in September 2025 through our school’s INCubatoredu entrepreneurship program. What began as a class project has become something I care about more than anything I’ve worked on.

Today I run every part of the paper myself — the writing and layout, printing and delivery, sales, sponsorships, and this website. Every issue that reaches a reader comes from my hands.

I’m passionate about making sure seniors in our community feel seen, informed, and connected. Every two weeks, that’s what I get to work toward — and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Why I Started

A paper made for the people who built this town

With so much changing so fast, it’s easy for seniors to feel left out of what’s happening around them. I didn’t want anyone in Batavia to feel that way.

The Windmill Weekly is my way of bringing local news, friendly stories, puzzles, and a reminder that you’re an important part of this community — printed in large, easy-to-read type and delivered right to you.

Who we are?

We are a team of students from Batavia High School, currently in our sophomore and junior years, who have come together to launch a startup as part of our incubator class. Our team members are Bryan Wnek, Lexi Kammes, and Ben Manikas. Each of us brings a diverse background and perspective, both academically and through extracurricular involvement, including soccer, baseball, and lacrosse..

Why we started?

We started The Windmill Weekly to help our seniors feel more connected to the world around them. With so much happening so fast, it’s easy to feel left out, and we didn’t want anyone to feel that way. This paper is our way of sharing local news, friendly stories, and reminders that you’re an important part of this community, every single week.
